K-9 Ardo Retirement

On January 29th, 2024, members of the East Hampton Ambulance were invited to honor the retirement of K-9 Ardo, a dedicated four-legged officer from the East Hampton Police Department.

Chief Woessner made a presentation highlighting the invaluable contributions Ardo made to the community, especially to the school system and their department over the years.

Officer Wilson, Ardo’s handler, shared moments of their partnership, thanking those who helped assist along the way.
When K-9 Ardo first started his career with East Hampton Police, he was brought to our Ambulance by his handler, Officer Wilson, and our members received training on his capabilities and what he can offer to the Town of East Hampton. We also got some moments to give him belly rubs and tell him he was a “good boy”. Officer Wilson would stop by our building every so often with Ardo to visit the crews, and cheer them up. Because who wouldn’t get cheered up from an energetic police K-9?

And most of all, we always knew when K-9 Ardo was assisting Officer Wilson on medicals as he would greet us with some friendly barks when we walked past his cruiser! If you weren’t awake, you were now!!

This ceremony helped recognize the vital role K-9 units play in education of law enforcement, while also ensuring public safety.
We extend our gratitude to K-9 Ardo and wish him a well-deserved and happy retirement full of treats, cookies and toys!! Hopefully he enjoyed his own special cake EHPD got him and got to eat the rest later at home!
